Five activists who protested at the British Grand Prix in 2022 will have to wait to see if they have been successful in challenging their convictions.

A group of Just Stop Oil protesters have been sentenced for their part in a track invasion at the Formula 1 British Grand Prix last year.

Six Just Stop Oil climate change protesters have been found guilty of risking serious harm to Formula One drivers and race marshals during a protest at the British Grand Prix last year.

The group ran onto the track on the opening lap of the race, holding banners and flags calling for an end to fossil fuel use.

The protesters were quickly removed from the track by security staff, but not before they had caused the race to be red-flagged.

The six protesters were found guilty of causing a public nuisance and aggravated trespass. They were sentenced to between six and 16 months in prison, suspended for two years.

The protesters said they were protesting against the use of fossil fuels, which they said was causing climate change.
