First Rounds Results

The first round of the French election results are in with Socialist Francois Hollande taking a narrow lead over incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy.

Second Round Runoff

Despite closing the substantial lead enjoyed by his rival on the morrow of the first round of the French presidential election Nicolas Sarkozy was still defeated by François.

Hollande won the second round of voting with 51.6% of the vote, while Sarkozy received 48.4%.
