Poland raises retirement age for women to match men

Parliamentary vote approves changes to pension system

On October 13, 2023, the Polish parliament voted to raise the retirement age for women to 65, bringing it in line with the retirement age for men.

The new retirement age for women will be phased in gradually over the next 10 years.

Beginning in 2024, the retirement age for women will increase by one month each year until it reaches 65 in 2033.

The government has stated that the change is necessary to ensure the long-term sustainability of the pension system.
